 Summary:  We made clay succulent pots for our clay lesson. For this project, we were given a small amount of clay the size of a tennis ball. When we received our clay we had to get the air bubbles out from the clay, we did this by tossing the clay on the table repeatedly. After a few minutes, we took the clay and started pinching the ball of clay into the shape of a bowl. We had to make the bowl thick enough that it would be stable when we flipped it over and it would be strong enough to put leaves on. For the leaves, we took a small piece of clay and rolled it out until it looked like a snake. When we had the piece of clay rolled out we pinched the clay to spread the clay and make it look like a leaf. After we had our leaves made, we had to score the leaf and the pot by making x's in the clay where we were going to attach them. When the leaves are attached you put a little water and your finger and you rub the seam of the leaf and the pot so the leaf can stay on the pot bett...

Printmaking

 Summary:  For this project, we were assigned an ecosystem from around the world. I was assigned the grassland ecosystem and I based it off of the South Dakota grassland. In the beginning, we had to draw different elements of our ecosystem and we had to make sure that we included at least one animal into our drawing. With this in mind, I drew a Buffalo, grass, tree, the sun, birds, and Mount Rushmore. I drew a Buffalo because they were commonly found in South Dakota before they were nearly hunted to extinction in the late 1800s and they could be found in Custer State Park. I included Mount Rushmore in my drawing because when I think of South Dakota, I can't help thinking of Mount Rushmore. I drew the other elements because they are the main parts of the grassland ecosystem. When we were done with the drawing, we had to place a piece of foam on top of it.   Summary:  For this project, we had to pick out a piece of construction paper in any color that we wanted. After we got our construction paper, we had to cut the paper into stripes varying in different sizes. With the biggest stripe, we had to fold it in half and cut the paper to have rounded edges for the snake's face. Also with the smallest stripe, we had to glue the edges together to make the shape of a tail. Now with the rest of the stripes, we had to link them together using glue. When we were linking the stripes together we had to make sure that we linked the head and tail into our paper chain snake. Finally, we had our paper snake assembled we had to paint our snakes any way we wanted. I chose to base my snake off of Bingo from Bluey.   Summary:  For this project, we had to paint a vase of sunflowers based on Vincent Van Gogh's painting of a vase of sunflowers. Before we could start painting, we had to draw everything in pencil and trace the pencil lines with a Sharpie. After we traced the lines with Sharpies, we could start painting everything but we had to include at least 2 different techniques. For the two techniques, I used the back end of my paintbrush to draw lines on the table, I splattered blue watercolor paint on the purple, and I flat painted with watercolors for the flowers. I didn't paint the background of painting because we ran out of time in class to finish it and we were given the option not to paint it at all.  Extension Activity:  I can link this with a language arts lesson. In the lesson, students will read an autobiography about Vincent Van Gogh and learn more about Vincent Van Gogh.  Summary: This drawing project is where we cut a white piece of paper into four sections. In each section, we had to draw something that we like to do in our free time. I drew a yellow redbull can because redbull is my go-to energy drink to have when I feel I need more energy. Next, I drew a cowboy boot because I like listening to country music and I grew up on a farm. I drew the cowboy boot in colored pencil and used green for the hill that the boot sits on. Then, I drew the bee because my favorite show is Bridgerton and the bee is a symbol in the show. Lastly, I drew the Ziggi's logo because I like going to Ziggi's to get their energy infusion when I feel like I need to treat myself. Hidden Safari

  Summary:  The hidden safari is where we choose an animal that we will see on a safari. After we chose our animal we had to draw the animal upside down with a blue color pencil. We drew with a blue color pencil because it would show through the warm colors that we color on top. We could see the animal we drew when we put on special glasses that showed cool colors over warm colors. I drew these fun organic shapes in warm colors, these shapes were fun to draw because I would draw the shapes in one color and draw another set of shapes in another color.  Extension Activity:  I can use this project in a science lesson. Students will be allowed to pick an animal from an ecosystem that they were assigned and draw the animal on a piece of paper in blue color pencil. I would have the students draw the ecosystem that you could find the animal in on top of the animal that they drew in blue color pencil. Van Gogh Inspired Collages

 Summary:  The Van Gogh-inspired collage is where we took a black piece of construction paper and clued tissue paper on with special glue that drys clear. After the glue dries, we had to cut out a landscape silhouette and glue it on top of the tissue paper. We also had to use white oil pastels to draw details. I chose a barn and tree silhouette because I grew up on a farm and wanted to make a personal connection to this collage.  Extension Activity:  An extension activity I can do with The Van Gogh-inspired collages is connecting the collages to a social studies lesson. I will do that by having students create a silhouette of a landscape of different environments around the country or world. This activity will allow students to learn about different environments that are different from what they live in, and it will allow them to learn more about different countries from around the world.  Photograph:
