Paper
Summary:
For this project, we had to pick out a piece of construction paper in any color that we wanted. After we got our construction paper, we had to cut the paper into stripes varying in different sizes. With the biggest stripe, we had to fold it in half and cut the paper to have rounded edges for the snake's face. Also with the smallest stripe, we had to glue the edges together to make the shape of a tail. Now with the rest of the stripes, we had to link them together using glue. When we were linking the stripes together we had to make sure that we linked the head and tail into our paper chain snake. Finally, we had our paper snake assembled we had to paint our snakes any way we wanted. I chose to base my snake off of Bingo from Bluey. It was really fun to paint the snake and see how everyone else was painting their snake and what inspired them to paint the snake the way they did.
Extension Activity:
A lesson that I can bring the paper snake chain to is a science lesson. The students will have to create a paper snake chain, but when they are painting the snakes. They will have to base how they are painting them off of a snake in real life. Having students do this will help them learn about all the different types of snakes there are in the world. For example, if a student is trying to create a garter snake. They will use black construction paper for the snake and paint yellow lines on the side of it. After the students create the snake, they will write a paragraph on what they learned about the snake that they created. The students also will present their snakes to the class so everyone can learn about all the different kinds of snakes there are in the United States.
